Ummmm. Wait. Don't tell me. Hang on.

See them helping in the (appropriately placed) left picture?
All those bus mechanics are going to get MEGA-OVERTIME pay fixing those drowned vehicles!
Plus, Repugs are mean and stupid! See them in the picture hauling the poor and disabled to INTERMENT CAMPS! There, they brain-wash them with Karl Rove speeches and FOX NEWS!!!! Probably buy the supplies at WalMart.
YAY! I'm converted.

STREISAND DECLARES 'GLOBAL WARMING EMERGENCY'
THE SUPERSTAR SONGSTRESS SERENADED SAWYER WITH STORM SEASON ASSERTIONS. BUT TO SOME SHE'LL SOUND MORE LIKE A WINDSOCK SINGING LIBERALISM'S GOLDEN OLDIES!
NEW YORK -- This summer's back to back superstorms are proof positive we have entered a new period of "global warming emergency," artist/citizen Barbra Streisand warns.
Streisand is back on the scene to promote her reunion disc with Barry Gibb.
As hellstorm "Rita" churned in the Gulf, Streisand sat down for a promotional interview with ABCNEWS's Diane Sawyer.
"We are in a global warming emergency state, and these storms are going to become more frequent, more intense," Streisand urgently declares.
But Sawyer did not remind Streisand that a Category 5 hurricane struck the Bahamas with 160 mph winds -- when the singer was five years old, in 1947!
And when Streisand was 8 years old, a Cat 5 hurricane -- named "Dog" -- packing 185 mph churned-away in the Atlantic.
When she was 9, a Cat 5 storm named "Easy" ripped the seas with 160 mph sustained winds.
Streisand was 13 years old when "Janet" hit Mexico with 150 mph winds.
Streisand was celebrating her sweet sixteen as "Cleo" formed with 140 mph.
At 18, Streisand read news about "Donna" AND "Ethel" -- both storms carried 140 mph winds and formed 9 days apart in 1960!
One year later, when Streisand was 19, it happened again: Two Category 5 storms scared the world: "Carla" and "Hattie!"
"Carla" maxed out at 175 mph winds the year Streisand made her television debut on "The Jack Paar Show."
And who could forget Hurricane "Camille" -- which smashed into the United States with 190 mph, just as "Funny Girl" garners eight Academy Award nominations, including one for Best Picture and one for Barbra as Best Actress.
Up next on the weather warning watch, Streisand says to ABC: "There could be more droughts, dust bowls. You know, it's amazing to hear these facts."

My buddy JebTexas emailed me a couple of days ago asking if I was going to post something on the disarming of private citizens in New Orleans. When I saw the info, I originally had mixed feelings because of the looters, and the fact that I have friends and family in law-enforcement.
When I actually sat and thought about the situation, I was appalled by two facts:
1. Government forces were disarming law-abiding, otherwise helpless citizens, by threat of deadly force
2. That I even thought for one second it was ok, because desperate times call for despertate measures. Right? Blinded by personal feelings (friends and family)...I hate when that happens.
Of course, law enforcement has nothing to fear from law-abiding citizens by definition...
This whole situation was wrong, and needs to be addressed so it NEVER happens again.
It is inexcusable to disarm the populace when the whole system has broken down.
That is when you and your neighbors need to be armed the most.
The Constitution says the right "shall not be infringed", not "well, depending on what we feel like at the time".
Here are some excerpts from various sources, all worth reading, I might add.
Gun Groups Upset by Post-Katrina Firearm Confiscations:
By Isaac Wolf - Gun rights groups are pointing to Hurricane Katrina as the best example since the 1992 Los Angeles riots of the need for civilians to carry firearms. They say that lawlessness and looting could be prevented by responsibly armed citizens.Amen.
Washington, D.C. - Scripps Howard Foundation Wire - infoZine - Meanwhile, the gun rights advocates say they are deeply troubled by the decision, made by New Orleans Police Superintendent Edwin Compass, to confiscate civilian firearms during the citywide evacuation earlier this month.
Kelly Hobbs, a National Rifle Association spokeswoman, said the group had reports from New Orleans that police had gone to homes of people who had recently purchased guns to confiscate them.
"It's really irresponsible for the authorities to try to confiscate guns from law-abiding individuals," said Andrew A. Arulanandam, also an NRA spokesman. He said officials should instead be working to locate and disarm criminals.
NRA-ILA Comments On Situation In New Orleans:
While one can certainly understand the dire predicaments of all those affected by Hurricane Katrina, as we have learned throughout history, campaigns to disarm the lawful do nothing to disarm the criminal. And in truth, these restrictions make citizens less safe. Despite the valiant efforts of many law enforcement officers and rescue workers, too many of those left in the wake of Katrina are ultimately responsible for their own security and safety and that of their families and loved ones. This is especially true when communication is virtually non-existent and police can't be quickly summoned to respond to calls for help. At these times, lawful gun ownership is paramount to personal safety.(Bold text mine, because true dat! jimmyb)
Big Easy hard on gun rights:
But security guards hired by businesses and individuals kept packing heat since no one dared order them to drop their M-16s and other assault riles.
Police preferred to handcuff homeowners to make the Big Easy gun confiscation easier. "Now that the city is relatively calm, they also went to areas that were not flooded, including to $1 million houses," Mr. Pratt said. "Now that they get disarmed, who will be there to protect them?"
There were no reports of criminals giving up their guns to comply with the mayor's edict. Perhaps because they realized the government made it less likely they would be shot during their reign of terror, especially if they headed for higher ground in more affluent neighborhoods.
Cuffing innocent, law-abiding homeowners not accused of any crime. They just happen to be gun owners. Do we live in England, or Canada, now?
NRA ON THE GROUND IN LOUISIANA:
“What we’ve seen in Louisiana-the breakdown of law and order in the aftermath of disaster-is exactly the kind of situation where the Second Amendment was intended to allow citizens to protect themselves, ” LaPierre said. “For state, local, or federal government to disarm these good people in their own homes using the threat of imminent deadly force, is unthinkable.”
“The NRA will not stand by while guns are confiscated from law-abiding people who’re trying to defend themselves,” Cox said. “We’re exploring every legal option available to protect the rights of lawful people in New Orleans.”
God bless the NRA!!!
Sobering information, you may agree.
(If you're a real American patriot, you definitely agree! :) )
In the spirit of O'Reilly, I'll give myself the last word:
JOIN THE NRA TODAY!! CLICK HERE TO DO IT!!! NOW, SLACKERS!
(Even if you live in Canada!)
After you join, contribute to the NRA-ILA (Institute For Legislative Action).
Update: It's not over yet, but a good step in the right direction...
Major Victory For Firearms Owners And Freedom In Louisiana
Friday, September 23, 2005>(Fairfax, VA) -- The United States District Court for the Eastern District in Louisiana today sided with the National Rifle Association (NRA) and issued a restraining order to bar further gun confiscations from peaceable and law-abiding victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. “This is a significant victory for freedom and for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The court’s ruling is instant relief for the victims who now have an effective means of defending themselves from the robbers and rapists that seek to further exploit the remnants of their shattered lives,” said NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre.
Thanks to JebTexas for his insight and thoughts! Another friend of mine, and the 2nd Amendment! :)

Did you know?
From ABC News on my TV:
If your home and all your worldy possesions are wiped out, AND you don't have a job to return to, you have a higher chance of filing bankruptcy.
And it's probably Bush's fault.
(This is news?)
Ok, the last part was inferred.
Man, I'm glad I tune in once in a while.
Q: Regarding the worlds problems from 9/11 to Iraq to hurricanes to poverty, what do Cindy Shrillhan, Nazis, leftist acedemics, dirty hippies, DU'ers, main-stream Hollywood, the MSM, white-supremists, and radical Islamists all have in common (besides hating America)?
A: They all blame the Joooooooooooooossss!!! :)
Did you pass?
Good. I thought you could.
(If you did not pass, it is probably because of the Joooooos!
And thereby not your fault.)

Anyway, Dick Gregory (whoever he is) shows how big a person he is in the following excerpt.
And I thought I had a high opinion of myself...
Bush Team Conspired Against Blacks, Activists ChargePersonally, I would rather have food and water, but then, what do I know? I'm not a famous comedian and activist. Well, ok. I am famous.
By Nathan Burchfiel
September 12, 2005
(CNSNews.com) - Several black civil rights leaders are accusing the federal government of conspiring against poor African Americans in the aftermath of the flooding in New Orleans. But one of those hurling the charges, comedian and political activist Dick Gregory, on Friday refused to say what, if anything, he has personally contributed to the relief effort.
Gregory, who had just visited evacuees at the Houston Astrodome and the city's convention center, said he was able offer the flood victims something else besides money and food.
"I'm a hero in America, so just to go there and touch them, means a lot to them. [That] means more than taking them to the Red Cross and giving them food," Gregory told Cybercast News Service. Gregory did not reply to the question about whether he had made a personal donation.
I've never even heard of this guy, so he can't be THAT famous, as I keep moderately abreast of entertainment news (one of my guilty pleasures I am weaning myself from!).
So in the spirit of Mr. Gregory, I have decided that if you need food or water, I can email you, which is way better! Not as good as showing up, but a good email should at least take the edge off your thirst and hunger.
The ACLU is an anti-American, pro-terrorist, pro-abortion, pro-child molester organization (among other ills).
Their demise as an organization can not come too soon.
Go join up, sign the petition, donate some cash, smite our enemies!
Heh. I said smite!
The ACLU should not get one dime of our tax money, period. Help make that happen.
The following excerpt is from Stop the ACLU:
On 1, Oct. 19, 1976 Congress passed an amendment to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which gave the Courts the power to award attorney’s fees in civil rights cases to the prevailing party. ‘The Civil Rights Attorney’s Fees Awards Act of 1976′ was passed with high hopes, and the good intentions that it would help provide relief for individuals that might not otherwise be able to afford the expenses of defending their civil liberties if they were violated. The ACLU, and other judicial activitist have completely turned the intentions of this amendment on its head.
Whenever the ACLU fights voluntary prayer in school, a war memorial because it’s in the shape of a cross, ten commandment displays, or keeping the boyscouts from military sponsorship, and they win, you pay for their attorney’s fees.
What was intended to protect people from having their civil rights violated has been twisted by the ACLU to use as leverage when they threaten small schools and communities that can’t afford to defend themselves from the well funded, and well staffed ACLU bully. Yes, legislation intended to protect civil liberties is often used to supress religious expression by the likes of the ACLU.
There is currently legislation in the House introduced by Representive Hostettler that hopes to remedy its abuse. It is an amendment that limits the attorney fees in Establishment Clause cases to injuctive relief only. In other words, if the ACLU wants to pick a fight over someone praying in public, or a ten commandments display that offends one sensitive athiest, they’ll have to dig into their own deep pockets, and it will not come from yours.
We want your voice to be heard in D.C. supporting this legislation. It’s really simple, all we need is your autograph. Our friend at Courtzero.org has put together a petition.
This was a production of Stop The ACLU blogburst. If you would like to join our efforts to fight the ACLU, it’s very simple. Just register at our portal. We will add you to our mailing list, and send you the info you will need. Over 100 blogs already on board. Join us!

Can the whole universe be not far behind?
Take that you poor Martians!!! We only like rich Martians!
From Nasa's Mars Global Surveyor site via the Jet Propulsion Laboratories:
...for three Mars summers in a row, deposits of frozen carbon dioxide near Mars' south pole have shrunk from the previous year's size, suggesting a climate change in progress.
and from the article, "Four Mars Years of South Polar Changes" at the same site:
Each year that Mars Global Surveyor has been in orbit, the landforms of the south polar residual cap have gotten smaller, and the carbon dioxide removed from the cap has not been re-deposited. The implication is that Mars presently has a warm (and possibly warming) climate, with new carbon dioxide going into the atmosphere every year. The other implication is that, at some time in the not-too-distant past, the planet had a colder climate, so that the layers of carbon dioxide could be deposited in the first place.
DU and Daily KOS are reporting that it is Bush's fault and the Repugnicans. This fits their world view...oops! I mean, solar system view of conservative evil.
I will reiterate. I still think that (perceived) climate change is caused by:

$17 million cash.
$3 million in merchandise.
$8.5 million to affected employees.
$xxxxx in merchandise to looters.
Guaranteed jobs to employees of affected stores, at any store in America.
Mini-Walmarts to hand out items to survivors.
Online Missing Persons Picture Board at Walmart.com and Samsclub.com.
Numerous (read thousands) of semi-trucks loads delivering goods from them and donated items from others.
Announced it would fill prescriptions, free of charge, to evacuees with emergency medicine needs and no money, even if they did not have a copy of their prescription.
Donated the use of 22 vacant facilities in impacted states for relief efforts. Uses include evacuee shelters, supply depots, food pantry, a tent city for utility crews and even a dialysis clinic. The company will pay utilities on these facilities while in use.
Plus a whole bunch more.
Those heartless bastards.
You don't here a Democrat say this too often (From Breitbart.com):
Under pressure from President Bush and other top federal officials, the mayor suspended the reopening of large portions of the city Monday and instead ordered nearly everyone out because of the risk of a new round of flooding from a tropical storm on the way.I'm glad he said it.
"If we are off, I'd rather err on the side of conservatism to make sure we have everyone out," Mayor Ray Nagin said.
See. Conservatism good. Liberalism BAD.

(Click image for better view of super-fantastic art and design work!)
So a couple people think my post about the Flight 93 Memorial was paranoid, racist, stupid, blah, blah, blah.
I even offended Mauser Girl! (If I were single, she would be mine, BTW.)
(Just kidding MG! Don't shoot me.!)
So, in the interest of being fair, pragmatic, and open-minded, I present my alternate memorials (with their appropriate names) for Flight 93. In the spirit of the left I will give explanations of how ignoramuses like myself might mis-interpret them.
If you are offended by any of these symbols, you are (insert hyperbole here).
There is no charge for this public service, as all time and exceptional artwork have been donated by CUG Industries, Inc. (With a little Haliburton funding thrown in.)
Disclaimer: I pray for, thank, and commend the souls who fought for Flight 93.
I would also love to eviserate the people who hijacked it, unlike the Moore-Ons and Marcy Kapturs, who say murderous Islamofacists and splodey-tards are freedom-fighters, and our soldiers are murderers and thugs.
To those types: bite me. (Please see my targets I shot recently, before you visit, you farleftards!
Yay! Marksmanship rules!)
Holy shnikey! Could I be any more fair and balanced? I don't think so...
Y'all can thank me later.

He should resign, but refuses to.
I'm am changing our state's name of Ohio to Ohrino.
Thanks to Senators DeWhine and Voinabitch, and of course, Governor Graft.
Dear Governor Taft,
You are an asshat,
a selfish prick,
and a disgrace to real Republicans and the Republican Party.
Please apologize and resign like a real man. Most Dems would never admit wrong-doing or resign, but in case you forgot,
WE'RE THE LAW AND ORDER PARTY!
Un - Freaking - Believable!
From Las Vegas Weekly (Click on the below title to read the whole bizarre article):
By Stacy J. Willis
The shade from the Wal-Mart Neighborhood Market sign is minimal around noon; still, six picketers squeeze their thermoses and Dasani bottles onto the dirt below, trying to keep their water cool. They're walking five-hour shifts on this corner at Stephanie Street and American Pacific Drive in Henderson—anti-Wal-Mart signs propped lazily on their shoulders, deep suntans on their faces and arms—with two 15-minute breaks to run across the street and use the washroom at a gas station.
Periodically one of them will sit down in a slightly larger slice of shade under a giant electricity pole in the intersection. Four lanes of traffic rush by, some drivers honk in support, more than once someone has yelled, "assholes!" but mostly, they're ignored.
They're not union members; they're temp workers employed through Allied Forces/Labor Express by the union—United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW). They're making $6 an hour, with no benefits; it's 104 F, and they're protesting the working conditions inside the new Wal-Mart grocery store.
"It don't make no sense, does it?" says James Greer, the line foreman and the only one who pulls down $8 an hour, as he ambles down the sidewalk, picket sign on shoulder, sweaty hat over sweaty gray hair, spitting sunflower seeds. "We're sacrificing for the people who work in there, and they don't even know it."
(One of the workers relates) "I asked him (union organizer Hornbrook), I said, 'How come we're working here for $6 an hour? I need you to help us find a better job. I want information on the union,'" Rivera said.
He was told, he says, to secure his own job with a grocery store, and then the union would help him to be sure the store paid him appropriate wages.
"This is an informational picket line only," Hornbrook said. "We're paying these people. They were out of work before (joining their picket lines). This is an in-between-jobs stop. Picketing isn't a career.
Read: See how great we are to give these shlubs a job at all!
To the UFCW:
Be ashamed. Be very ashamed.
As a union member, I can honestly say I am appalled.
This gives people another reason to bash unions.
Sadder still, this is a damn good reason.

Regardless of the lefts caterwauling, the FACTS show the response wasn't to far from being reasonable, and normal...
By Jack Kelly on Post-Gazette.com (Click title below to view whole article):
Sunday, September 11, 2005
"Mr. Bush's performance last week will rank as one of the worst ever during a dire national emergency," wrote New York Times columnist Bob Herbert in a somewhat more strident expression of the conventional wisdom.
But the conventional wisdom is the opposite of the truth.
Jason van Steenwyk is a Florida Army National Guardsman who has been mobilized six times for hurricane relief. He notes that:
"The federal government pretty much met its standard time lines, but the volume of support provided during the 72-96 hour was unprecedented. The federal response here was faster than Hugo, faster than Andrew, faster than Iniki, faster than Francine and Jeanne."
A former Air Force logistics officer had some words of advice for us in the Fourth Estate on his blog, Moltenthought:
"We do not yet have teleporter or replicator technology like you saw on 'Star Trek' in college between hookah hits and waiting to pick up your worthless communications degree while the grown-ups actually engaged in the recovery effort were studying engineering."
"The United States military can wipe out the Taliban and the Iraqi Republican Guard far more swiftly than they can bring 3 million Swanson dinners to an underwater city through an area the size of Great Britain which has no power, no working ports or airports, and a devastated and impassable road network."
"You cannot speed recovery and relief efforts up by prepositioning assets (in the affected areas) since the assets are endangered by the very storm which destroyed the region."
Relief efforts must be planned. Other than prepositioning supplies near the area likely to be afflicted (which was done quite efficiently), this cannot be done until the hurricane has struck and a damage assessment can be made. There must be a route reconnaissance to determine if roads are open, and bridges along the way can bear the weight of heavily laden trucks.
And federal troops and Guardsmen from other states cannot be sent to a disaster area until their presence has been requested by the governors of the afflicted states.
The whole article is pretty good, and shows how the far left has once again not wasted one second to take the opportunity to exploit mass destruction and the deaths of those they claim to support.
They should all be proud. Thanks MSM!

It's a flash presentation.
See it here.
She has a great site, and it is quite popular with our military (she has a daughter that just joined the Air Force, and a son in Iraq as well). Go visit her after you watch this presentation.
I still don't hardly know what to say on this anniversary. I can try.
I love my country.
I am still in shock.
I am still praying for the victims and the survivors.
I am praying for our country.
God bless our helpers, defenders and protectors.
Thank you so much for all you have done, for all you are doing, and for what you will do in the future.
To our enemies - FU.
Please come over to my house so I can convince you why we are not bad, and that we love all peoples.
Or come over so I can kill you.
I prefer the former, but am not adverse to the latter.
I'm guess I'm cool with either way.
I will never forget.
And neither should all of you...
God bless America.

Here is the United Airlines Flight 93 Memorial design.
Is there anything wrong with this picture?
From Real Clear Politics (Click on the excerpt to read the whole disturbing article) :
Thursday September 8 2005Is this some sort of sick joke? What are we coming to in this country?
IS THE "CRESCENT OF EMBRACE" AN OUTRAGE?: Perhaps I'm being oversensitive, but is anyone else struck by the fact that the design for the memorial unveiled yesterday in Pennsylvania to commemorate the crash of UAL Flight 93 on 9/11 bears a striking resemblance to one of the major symbols of Islam?
No wonder I'm melancholy.
Go read the whole thing.
The really sad thing is that if it was a cross, the Left and the ACLU would sue over it.
Bet we don't here a peep from them on this, unless it's accolades.
Dang. I'm writing somebody on this bulls##t.

Ok, guess what place I came in in the e-Postal Match #2 "Snub or Not" online shooting contest, over at Mr. Completely's.
jimmyb was FIRST!!! (With apologies to IMAO's comment section.) Hooray for me! :)
FIRST! prize - Bragging rights, dutifully exercised here.
See my targets here: e-Postal Shooting Contest #2.
See Mr. Completely's scoring results here: e-Postal Match #2 "Snub-or-Not" Results
Scoring was 5 shots per target for a maximum of 50 points per target for a perfect score.
Total of 10 targets (5 per sheet) for a max of 250 points/sheet, 500 points total.
Your's truly placed first in the 2.5" to 4" barrel catagory, as well as first in the overall scores.
(To be fair, a lot of guys were shooting snubbies, so that is a far less equitable comparison in the overall scores. However, I'll still take it!)
I used Mama's 4" heavy-barrel Ruger MKII .22. Red-dot scope, no trigger work. Pretty sweet for a stock gun.
I would like to thank God, my mom, my wife (her gun), the Founding Fathers, Sturm and Ruger, conservatives, the NRA, and Mr. Completely.
This was a blast to shoot, and I have shot more this summer than I have for several years.
Thanks, Mr. Completely!!! You rule!!!
You guys should get out and shoot, too! It's fun, and a useful skill (void in Socialist and Commie countries. Also void in many blue cities and states. Let's change that!)
I will apprise all of the next contest dates.

Depression about hurricane and moonbats standing on rubble and dead bodies to dog conservatives. Can't you at least wait for the dead to be collected? Ghouls.
Cure: Beer and Half Life 2.
Quit reading news and blogs for a couple days...
I can do it. Really. Right after this post is done and I check CNN and DU...
AAAAACCCCKKKKK!! BLLAAAAARRRRG!!! CLUNK!
However: Bill Whittle of Eject, Eject, Eject has his newest essay up, called Tribes.
It is a must read. Beautiful, heavy, LONG, perfect.
Bill writes like I would write if I were smart, talented, brave, insightful, eloquent and worldy.
I guess I'll just have to settle for reading him instead.
Rating: WOW. All I can say is, "Arf, Grrrrrrrrr!"
A person of some modest education might have remembered that the worship and adulation fostered after 9/11 was for the NYPD and the FDNY. No one was buying FEMA hats after 9/11, because FEMA is essentially a mop-up agency. It's the first responders, the local governments, that will determine if a city will live or die. The State -- that means, the "governor"-- has the sole authority to mobilize the National Guard, and the governor of the state of Louisana was not only slow to do that, she turned down NG assistance from several OTHER states as well. The President does not have the authority to drop precious egg salad sandwiches from Michael Moore's missing helicopters. We do this ON PURPOSE. We limit the power of the federal government, as those of us fortunate enough to have spent time in Civics, rather than Self Esteem classes, are aware.Amen, Bill.
On a lighter note (funny and sad at the same time) video : To Protect and Self-Serve.
Hat tip to KevinA.
I had a recent post about Fmragtops, one of my fave Louisiana bloggers, being missing in action.
I just got this email:
Hey CUG. I am fine. I still have my family, my life and my home. I am very lucky compared to the people that live further East. We are finally getting back to normal. Everybody I know has their power and phones back. I'll probably have to take a break from blogging for a while because I have been away from work for a couple of weeks now, and I need to get caught up. I appreciate the prayers, and good wishes. I will be back to blogging shortly. Thanks again.
As well as this blog comment:
Guys, I am touched by your concern and well wishes. Thank you. I am okay. Was without power, and phones for awhile, but otherwise unscathed. Thanks again to all of you for prayers, and thoughts.
HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!!! JOY, JOY, JOY!!!
We're so glad you're safe!
Will drink a celebratory beer for you tonight for you and yours.
Thanks to all who put out the APB, especially SeanS at Shoot a Liberal, who put out the original one.

Oh! Here's an example!
From The American Veterinary Medical Association:
Wood chippers not to be used to euthanatize poultry, AVMA says
"Use of wood chippers has not been endorsed by the AVMA as an acceptable means of euthanasia for poultry." This statement is a response to an article in the San Diego Union-Tribune that reported employees at two area poultry farms used wood chippers to dispose of some 30,000 live hens in February. The article erroneously stated that the AVMA approves of the method.
"It is absolutely absurd and ludicrous to believe that any veterinary medical association, especially an association that has for more than 140 years been the leading voice for humane and proper care of animals, could or would advocate throwing live chickens into a wood chipper as an appropriate method of euthanasia," said Dr. Bruce W. Little, AVMA executive vice president.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture denies that the veterinarian who was consulted is a USDA employee. The San Diego County district attorney initially decided against filing animal cruelty charges against the owners of Ward Egg Farm. But in April she reopened the case after receiving numerous complaints criticizing her decision not to press charges.
The owners of Ward Egg Farm claim that a veterinarian with the USDA had signed off on using wood chippers to destroy the hens. State quarantine rules enacted because of the outbreak of exotic Newcastle disease in Southern California prevented the hens from being transported to a slaughterhouse elsewhere in the state.
AVMA-sanctioned methods of euthanasia for poultry and other animals are detailed in the "2000 Report of the AVMA Panel on Euthanasia," available at www.avma.org/resources/euthanasia.pdf.
They are correct, woodchippers are not in the pdf file mentioned.
So I guess because a steamroller isn't listed in there either, that's out, too.
Disclaimer: jimmyb the Conservative UAW Guy is a lame humorist, and does not advocate putting chickens into woodchippers or steamrolling them.
And, he would would like the world to know that he would never, ever do that, unless he was really, really drunk.
Hippies, traitors, commies, looters, and Ted Rall, on the other hand...
The e-Postal Online Shooting match is here! Entries must be in to Mr. Completely by midnight, tonight (09/06/05). (Click on each target for a closer view).
These are the targets I submitted, using a Ruger MKII .22 LR with a 4" barrel.
This is equipped with a relatively inexpensive Tasco 30mm red-dot scope (0x magnification). The weapon is the wife's pistol that I've posted a picture of before. She let's me borrow it whenever I like because she's a total sweetheart!
The targets were shot at a distance of 30ft; top target was shot standing with no support, the bottom target was likewise shot at 30ft off of a bench rest sitting.
Not great, but passable shooting, and certainly good enough to take out a ground hog or a looter.

e-Postal Handgun Match #2 - "Snub-or-Not"
Better hurry! Tic-toc, tic-toc.
And of course, it is your duty as a patriotic American to be armed to protect America and her citizens, and to be proficient (at least moderately!) with said arms. It is your duty as a family member to be able to protect your family members.
I think the flood victims show us why each person should be armed.
Excuse me, but I need to go shoot a bunch of .308 and .45 rounds now!
(Practice what you preach, eh?)

From SeanS at Shoot a Liberal:
I'm putting out an all points bulletin for Fmragtops. He lives in Louisiana. His last post was on August 24 stating he was out of town. Nothing else has been posted on his site since Katrina hit. Anyone knowing the location / status of Fmragtops, please post in the comments section. JimmyB, GunnNutt, Fitch, and I are worried about him. Please post a message on your blogs as well.
He's from somewhere in Louisiana. He left a post on Wed. August 24, 2005 that he was going away on business, and we haven't heard from him since.
If anyone knows anything, please let us know.
We are praying for him.

(This post will remain on top for the weekend!)
I have recommended The Salvation Army (1-800-SAL-ARMY) in the Hurricane Katrina: Blog for Relief Weekend. Make sure you check for more info at Technorati's for Flood Aid, and Hurricane Katrina. Once again, the bloggers come together...
Of course, there are many good charities out there, just don't get ripped off by the scammers (who are going to hell, I might add).
Our brothers and sisters are in need.
Glenn Reynolds has a list of charities to choose from.
Little Green Footballs does as well.
You Big Mouth, You has a list of some corporate donors.
Also check out Conservathink and Ah Shoot have some suggestions, too.
I'm probably going to donate money at GM, because they match employee donations dollar for dollar up to xxxxx number of dollars (number usually changes). Get more bang for my buck that way.
However, I might give more than one place, too. Haven't decided yet. (Note: I have now! Salvation Army, and most likely Catholic Charities, too!)
Please give what you can, and please pray for our fellow countrymen (and women, of course).
Lot of money, lot of prayin'. That's what they need...
God bless 'em, and God help them.
The contest info is here.
So get crackin'!!! There is no excuse not to shoot in this contest, unless you don't own a gun.
If you don't own a gun, you had better go out and get one. TODAY.
Don't be a sissy. If you love your family, you should be willing to learn the tools of, and ways of, deadly force to protect them.
Look at Louisiana. There would be a lot less rape and murder victims if the law abiding were armed.
*sigh* More rape and murder victims as a result of liberals, their policies, and their teachings...
How much blood is on these peoples hands?
Anyhoo! Join the contest!
Pictures to follow if FREAKING BLOGGER LETS ME POST ANY PICTURES!!!
Stoopid blogger. Oh, well. It is free! :)

I wonder why this wasn't on C-BS?
From Power Line:
So what prompted the order that prevented Hurricane Katrina from being a natural disaster of unprecedented magnitude? The mayor called the order unprecedented and said anyone who could leave the city should. The City of New Orleans and its residents owe the President a profound debt of gratitude.
Gov. Kathleen Blanco, standing beside the mayor at a news conference, said President Bush called and personally appealed for a mandatory evacuation for the low-lying city, which is prone to flooding.
Read the whole thing here.
The evil, cold, heartless, corporate giant Wal-Mart, best know for oppressing women, minorities and children, is committing an additional $15 million to help hurricane victims that are mostly...
women, minorities and children.
Dang it, Wal-Mart! You bastards!
Additionally, they did not count all the stuff that was looted -oops- donated already, in the figure stated. Also, it does not count the first $1 million it committed right out of the gate.
, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Following President Bush's announcement today that former Presidents Bush and Clinton will lead a nationwide fundraising effort to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, Wal-Mart President and CEO Lee Scott contacted President Clinton and the White House and committed $15 million from Wal-Mart to jump-start the effort. Ark.
As part of this commitment, Wal-Mart will establish mini-Wal-Mart stores in areas impacted by the hurricane. Items such as clothing, diapers, baby wipes, food, formula, toothbrushes, bedding and water will be given out free of charge to those with a demonstrated need.
Wal-Mart previously donated $2 million in cash to aid emergency relief efforts and has been collecting contributions at its 3,800 stores and CLUBS, and through its web sites [www.walmartfacts.com, http://www.walmart.com, http://www.walmartfoundation.org, http://www.walmartstores.com, http://www.samsclub.com].
Through its Associate Disaster Relief Fund, the company will also give displaced associates immediate funds for shelter, food, clothing and other necessities.
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. operates Wal-Mart Stores, Supercenters, Neighborhood Markets and SAM'S CLUBS in all fifty states. Internationally, the company operates in
Puerto Rico, Canada, China, Mexico, Brazil, , United Kingdom, Germany Argentinaand . The company's securities are listed on the South Korea and Pacific stock exchanges under the symbol WMT. New York
Hate to say it, (being a union guy and all) but that sounds like a pretty good neighbor to me...I know libs and the UAW freaking HATE Wal-Mart. But Wal-Mart is a God-send to the poor. Food, clothes for your kids, heck just about everything.
So let's say Wal-Mart unionized and paid full bennies and $20 and hour.
That would raise their prices.
This would disproportionately affect the poor (to use a liberal tag-line).
I do think Wal-Mart is a bit of a bully with other businesses, however.
But consumers do reap the benefits of that bullyism.
I also think this news says much about their upper management.
And, like it or not, it speaks well of them.
