Uhhh...Like Wow, Man

This one goes out to all my homies that are pushing for universal health care, national ID's, gun control, anti-smoking nazis, the NAU, global warming laws, and any form of nanny-statism you can think of...

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences. - C.S. Lewis

Heavy, man.

Excuse me, I need to go smite a Marxist now.

With A Little Help From My Friends.

Thanks for the support and kind words during the strike. Strangley, but I guess happily, short. It's not over yet, however, as the new contract must be voted on.

We shall see...

But lets jam!!

"That One Guy" over at Drunken Wisdom (with whom I have broken bread, and drink!) had this Saturday Night Live spoof of the Wheaties commercial, with a cigarette-smoking, portly John Belushi as the Decathlon winner. No PC crap back then.

What's odd is I was just telling someone about that very skit at work last week.

Which in turn, reminded me of this video - Belushi doing (and well, I might add) Joe Cocker's version of With A Little Help From My Friends (originally by the Beatles, of course).

Followed by the "real" Joe Cocker singing "Feelin' Alright" with the "Belushi" Joe Cocker (a classic as well).

Hope you enjoyed these as much as I. They're entertaining (very, to me), and bring back memories as well.

Real Conversation: GM Strike Follies!

The following conversation took place between an Omaha Steaks salesperson, and a CUGStar operator:

*phone rings*

CUG: Hello?

Young Chick from Omaha Steaks (YCOS): Hi! May I speak to "The Conservative UAW Guy", please? (Ed's note: Name changed to protect the guilty).

CUG: You got him.

YCOS: Hi! This is Amber, from Omaha steaks, and I'd like to tell you about a couple of great offers we have...

CUG: Uh....yeah. Well, I work at GM.

YCOS: *silence*

CUG: I work at General Motors.

YCOS: Soooo...that's like a car place, isn't it?

CUG: Yes. Yes, it is a "car place".

YCOS: Well this is Omaha Steaks.

CUG: Do you ever watch the news?

CUG: (To self - Oh, good Lord). *silence*

CUG: Well, we're on strike right now, so I don't have a job. How about calling back after the strike is over?

YCOS: Well, hmf, ok.

CUG: Thank you. *click*

I sure hope she doesn't vote.
And in Omaha Steaks' defense, they do have good chow.

Update: It's on. Double crap.

Strike deadline is 11PM today.

We'll see what happens...

I don't know if that's the right term.

All I know is that if one of your dogs leaves a deposit by your fence, and you don't see it, and then hit it with the weed-eater, poo comes flying back at you.

And when poo splatters back at you, that blows.

Hence the term...

Ohio Concealed Carry (CCW) Update

The streets are not running with the blood of innocent people killed by permit holders, as foretold by whiny liberals and teh MSM.

Just thought you'd like to know.

Son of A...!!!

Son of a...!!!
That's probably mild compared to what I said at the time.

I don't quite recall.

In these pictures, one of these things is not like the others.

One of these things just doesn't belong...

If'n you're gun folk, you will have already noticed the primer in the middle has a discernible lack of "dent" if you will, from the firing pin. You may also have noticed that it looks like at one time it did have approximately the same depth and diameter firing pin mark.

You may also surmise, that this primer was originally like the others but was then flattened by an extreme amount of pressure while the case was still in the firearm (that being my 80 Series Colt Gold Cup in 45 ACP bullseye gun). You surmise correctly.

This is from having a double-charge of powder (approximately 8.8 grains of Winchester 231, instead of 4.4 grains) in the case, caused by an ignorant, inattentive progressive reloading press operator (that would be me). This was my first progressive press; I've always used a single-stage before (both are Hornadys).

EVERYONE on the range heard it go off.  MAN was it loud!  I always have to have an audience to witness my screw-ups. While perhaps amusing after the fact, this situation is very NOT funny for a couple of reasons:

One - Overpressure in a firearm can damage or destroy the weapon (and not an inexpensive one in this case).

Two - Overpressure in a firearm can damage or destroy the operator of the weapon, or those nearby, for that matter. While it is unlikely that death could result, it is not impossible as an errant piece of shrapnel could indeed cause a fatality if it hit a person in the right place (brain, heart, artery, etc). Fortunately, at our indoor range, we have cement block walls between each lane/shooter. Even more fortunate, they were not needed (this time).

I was lucky: I didn't bulge the barrel (or completely explode the weapon, for that matter), and no one was hurt. But luck runs out.

I know what happened, too. I ran the press ram up (it's a 5 station job) and it went up almost all the way (dropping in a charge of powder into the aforementioned case). I lowered the ram slightly, to inspect/clear the problem, and the re-stroked it all the way up when I was done (dropping a second charge into the case). STOOPID! STOOPID!! STOOPID!!!

That's bad, m'kay?

I've never had a double charge using my single stage (one station/one operation at a time) press.
Of course, now that I know, I know. I'm just glad nothing happened.

I have considered moving stuff around and putting a Powder Cop on it, but ultimately I ended up deciding not to be a dumbass again.

BTW, my Lee manual says 5.8 grains is max for a 200gr lead bullet, and my Hornady manual says 6.2 is max.  Oops.

Reloading is a great, relaxing hobby, can save you money, and lets you customize/tune a particular load for a particular gun.  It is not something to be taken lightly, however.  Be careful out there...

(This happened in 2007 and has not been repeated.  Fool me once...)

If Only...

If only Mom would have brought a gun to a knife fight.

Cops: 3 Found Killed in Dallas Home, 2 More Found Gagged in Closet
Sunday, September 16, 2007

DALLAS — A woman and two boys were found stabbed to death at a Dallas home and two teenage girls were found bound and gagged in a closet, police said. The suspect remained at large Sunday.

But of course, she was probably trained otherwise (to be an unarmed sheep) for her whole life, and likely voted for liberals, who could care less about stabbings of women and children. They are an acceptable loss in pursuit of their agenda.

Rabid liberals care about control by the state, not about moms with psychotic boyfriends and husbands.
If this was a shooting the NRA bashing would be in full force. I await the knife ban hearings.

Protect yourself, protect your kids.
You think true feminists would be rabidly pro-gun.
It actually seems simple, doesn't it?

ePostal Results and Latest Contest

Here are the results for last month's e-Postal match: (Point Shooting).
And thanks to CarnabyFudge for hosting a challenging contest.

If you don't count the people who didn't quite shoot it right, I fared pretty well in the center-fire competition.

In rimfire, I thought I did ok, but other's did better.
And of course, so did the contest's daddy, Mr. Completely, taking first place.

Again... ;)

Next months contest is over at Ahab's, so get on over, grab the targets, and throw some lead!!

Get the rules and target here: Safari

See you at the range!!

Generally Not My Cup of Tea

But this is funny.
I don't know if I've ever watched a whole episode of the Daily show, as politically it's not my style, but maybe I should watch it once in a while.

H/T to Uncle.

Can You Feel That?

The love and peace, that is?
Me neither...

Disturbed anti-war protester can't find soldier, kills civilian with axe instead

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - A U.S. citizen has confessed to using an axe to kill a Dutch student after failing to find a soldier to attack, his lawyer said Tuesday.

Well the good thing is, like a good liberal, he didn't use a gun.

Nothin' To See Here, Folks.

Move along now...

Ahh. The sound of more American jobs flushing down the toilet -

1st Mexican truck rolls across border under cover of darkness
Official: 'Logistical Trans-Corridor of North America' open for business

Posted: September 8, 2007
5:05 p.m. Eastern

The first Mexican truck authorized by a Bush administration program opening U.S. highways to trucking companies from south of the border crossed into the U.S. this morning at approximately 1:50 a.m. EDT at Laredo, Texas, headed for North Carolina, according to a report from

In attendance were Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters, together with her Mexican counterpart, Luis Téllez, secretary of communications and transportation, and José Natividad Gonzáles Parás, governor of Nuevo Leon.

There Peters officially blessed Transportes Olympic as the first Mexican trucking company that would be allowed to operate freely in the U.S. under NAFTA.
God bless America. I'm glad my tax dollars are being used to sell out more jobs to other countries.

And then, ironically, there is this story about the same time:

Mexican Dynamite Truck Explodes; 37 Die

PIEDRAS NEGRAS, Mexico (AP) - A truck carrying explosives for the mining industry exploded after running into another vehicle in northern Mexico, killing at least 37 people, a federal police official said Monday.

But they're just as safe as ours. :)
And how can any politician say they are tough on terror when they increasingly open our borders, unchecked, to outsiders?

Are we going to be a second-world country first, or are we going to go straight to third-world?.

I'm contacting my senator.

Two Things

Hurry up and sign up for the Mr. Completely sponsored Gunblogger Rendezvous II.
Time is short!!

As well as the other fact that -

Mr. Completely's new ePostal Contest is up at Ahab's place: Safari
Along with a foreboding update!! ;) (Don't worry, though, it will still be fun!)

And for motivational purposes, here's some gun pron - A Smith Sigma in 40 S+W with night sights. Kind of a Glock knock-off (they lost a lawsuit about that), but still a decent defensive piece.

It entered the family and is already on the way out due to the need for other immediate (firearms) necessities.

Oh, well.
Easy come, easy go...

Now go sign up for the Rendezvous and then shoot some rhinos!!!

Gunblogger Rendezvous II

The wife and I had such a good time last year we were one of the first ones signed up for this year!!

Blatantly stolen from Mr. Completely's Gunblogger Rendezvous site:

Our Guest Of Honor

As you know from a previous announcement, the recipient of the money raised by the Gun Blogger Rendezvous will be Project Valour-IT. Project Valour-IT collects money to buy voice actuated laptop computers for injured and recovering servicemen and women with injuries that prevent them from using a conventional computer keyboard. With the voice actuated laptops they can contact friends and family by email. Project Valour-IT has purchased and delivered over 1,200 laptops so far, and they're still getting more!

I wanted to have our Guest of Honor be someone representing Project Valour-IT, and my first choice was Major Chuck Ziegenfuss, and the stars have all aligned and Major Ziegenfuss will be our guest of Honor! In fact, he will be there for the entire Rendezvous, staying at the Circus Circus with us, and getting in some range time on Saturday with us too!

If you would like to learn more about the Major, check out this post, particularly the lower part where Major Ziegenfuss is addressing a number of convalescing military folks at Walter Reed.

He is also a blogger, and you can read his blog "From My Position - On The Way!" HERE. If you'd like to Meet Major Ziegenfuss, meet a great bunch of bloggers, and help a fantastic cause, plan on attending the Gun Blogger Rendezvous this October in Reno. Get your hotel reservations in and your registration sent in right away

You won't regret it!

Sign up, show up, have a great time for a good cause. Hope to see you there!
We need lot's of people to show up, and time is short!!!

That is all.

Anecdotal Information for You!

Apparently, a full-grown male husky can eat the shells from two pounds of king-crab legs out of the trash and live.

I am happy to report this last part.
Not too danged happy about the first part.

More Is Less?

Ulitimately, it will be.

I left a comment over libby's place (in this post) and it gave me an idea:

Even though as an increasingly rabid libertarian (small L),I abhor more government, I would nonetheless like to add two new departments to the government.

To stay true to the roots of libertarianism (and supposedly, Republicanism) I would counterbalance this increase in government by sh**canning the BATFU, Dept of Education, the IRS, NEA, and the DEA, amongst other agencies. A net gain of less government for the people.

Then, I would install me as supreme overlord of these new gov't agencies:

The Department of Righteous Ass-Kickings (DRAK). This could entail anywhere from a solid "what-the-heck-were-you-thinking" bi**h-slap up to and including a full blown ass-whuppin' of biblical proportions.

And to that I will add this one, for more severe cases:

The Oh-So-Deserved Smiting Agency (OSDSA).
Let's face it. Some people just need a-killin'.
We all know who they are.

Instead of a sword made of flames for smiting, I could use dual 1911's and maybe an M4.

And a 50 BMG.

And and a suppressed MP5.

And maybe an M60 or two.

And... well, you get the picture.

As an aside I would like to mention the obvious, that of course, enhancing my personal firearms collection never entered my mind in any of this.

Between the DRAK and the OSDSA, I think we could solve many of our countries problems quickly, fairly (for you libs!!), effectively, and quite economically. And of course, I would not have to answer to any president that was a socialist, NWO'er, or stupid hippies and Marxists.

Let's try to get this on the ballot in '08. There's a LOT of work that needs to be done...

I Don't See What the Big Deal Is.

Student tricks football fans into insulting themselves

HILLIARD, Ohio (AP) - A high school student who tricked football fans from a crosstown rival into holding up signs that together spelled out, "We Suck," has been suspended for the prank, students said.

Kyle Garchar, a senior at Hilliard Davidson High School in suburban Columbus, said he spent about 20 hours over three days plotting the trick, which was captured on video and posted on the video-sharing website YouTube.

I don't get why they suspended him. That was a hot one!

ePostal Contest!!

Don't forget that this is the last weekend you have to shoot Mr. Completely's ePostal Contest, hosted this month by Carnaby Fudge.

Details and target is here - ePostal Contest: Point Shooting

You know the drill. Take you guns, ammo, good habits and patriotism to the range and have a blast!!!

I've shot a few of these targets for this contest and must say it's quite fun, especially if you don't rapid fire much.

Now go forth, be safe, and throw much lead down-range...
