Pretty cool the high scores were in the open sights, and not the optics classes for handguns.

Thanks to all for participating.

Bearly Made It

The April ePostal contest is back in all its furry, clawed glory for 2015!! (I almost forgot this year!)

Download the target here: Da Bears
(Do NOT download the graphic to the right)

Here's the scoop:

There will be one (1) target per entry.

: 25 feet, or 10 yards, whichever is available at your range.

HOW TO SHOOT ITThere are three columns of bears.  Each column has it's own position and rules for shooting (see "Shooting Positions next paragraph).

There are 5 bears per column.  1 shot per bear, 5 shots per column, for at total of 15 shots per entry.

SHOOTING POSITIONS: (columns from left to right):

First bear column - One handed, standing, unsupported.

Second bear column - Both hands, standing, unsupported

Third third column - Both hands, supported however you wish (bench, bi-pod, seated, prone, standing, astride an alpaca, etc)

Total shots = 15

: One target per entry. One shot per bear. As is standard, a hit only has to touch the edge of any part of the bear to count as a hit. Each bear is worth two (2) points.  There is ONLY ONE scoring designation per bear; one round per bear.  Multiple hits on a single bear count as one hit.
Perfect score = 30 points (15 individual bears hit).

CLASSES (shamelessly, (as I am wont to do) stolen from Mr. Completely):

CLASS ONE: Any rimfire handgun with no more than a 12" barrel, iron sights.

: Any rimfire handgun with no more than a 12" barrel, optic sights, no magnification.

: Any centerfire (non-revolver) handgun with no more than a 12" barrel, iron sights.

: Any centerfire (non-revolver) handgun with no more than a 12" barrel, optic sights, no magnification.

: Any revolver with no more than a 12" barrel, iron sights.

: Any revolver with no more than a 12" barrel, optic sights, no magnification.

: Any handgun with no more than a 14" barrel, any sights, scopes, laser, whatever. This class is primarily for target pistols.

Go crazy.   Anything you can get to launch and hit a bear, I'm good with!!

TIES:  Ties will be broken by me, based on most shots closest the the chest of each bear, with distance accounted for if necessary.

MULTIPLE ENTRIES: By all means, please do. You can indeed enter more than once, in fact, it is encouraged. Shoot everything you own, and everything you can borrow! Take a buddy to the range, get him entered, then borrow his gun and enter that! The only restriction is that you can only enter once for any given gun, in any individual Class.

You can shoot multiple copies of the target, and send in the best one. Shooting different calibers in the same gun count as one gun. For example, .38SPL and .357MAG shot out of a 4" GP100 are considered as one, as would be .44SPL and .44MAG. Different guns of the same caliber and barrel length can be entered.

PLEASE take a new shooter if you can.

: Bragging rights, adulation, and your scores posted here (and most likely elsewhere)!!

: Mark your score on each target with a legible pen, along with the class and type of gun used. Don't write your real name on the target, only the name you want to appear in the posted results, as your target may get posted on Mr. Commpletely and/or on The Conservative UAW Guy websites and perhaps elsewhere.

Take a scan (or picture) of your targets, and email the picture, along with:

1. Your score.

2. The name you want used when we post the results.

3. Gun description - Brand, model, type (semi-auto, revolver, black powder, etc), caliber, barrel length, and type of sights

4. Class: Class One, Two, Three, four, five, six, seven, or eight.

5. Anything interesting or unique about your entry that other shooters might enjoy hearing about, stock tips or amusing anecdotes.

your entries to cugblog AT msn DOT com.

If you can't scan or send target pictures, send everything else to me in an email, and we'll arrange for either fax or snail mail for the targets.

These rules are subject to revision as needed.

All entries must be received by 11:59 PM on Sunday, May 3rd and results will be posted within seven days, or less.  (May 3rd will give you an extra weekend to shoot the contest)

Any questions, comments, or accolades? Email me at cugblog AT msn DOT com.

Of course, be safe and have a great time enjoying a great sport! And TAKE A NEW SHOOTER WITH YOU!!

And as always, a big thanks to my friends Mr Completely and the lovely KeeWee, Magnum Shooters Supply, and True Blue Sam the Travelin' Man for keeping me in mind for the contest.
I am, as always, honored.

Ok.  Hit the range!!
